Miguel is currently living in London, United Kingdom while taking a Ph.D. at Imperial College in the field of Biological Nanosciences. He was born in Beja, Portugal and lived most of his life in Faro, also in Portugal, where he did a degree in Biochemistry before moving to London. Aside from his intended career in science, other interests exist in his life:
- Music. Miguel’s first real hobby, which has lasted to this day. He started learning guitar at the age of 16 with a private tutor and later joined his hometown’s Philharmonic Society. Unfortunately he never did join a band and any displays of his skills are reserved for gatherings with his friends.
- Computers. Ever since he got his first computer Miguel has been very interested in computer hardware and software development (with knowledge of Delphi Pascal, HTML, PHP, SQL and some others languages). Also, he always finds some time to play a few online games now and then.
- Gadgets. Miguel has always been keen on new advances in technology. Be it the latest mobile phones, a PDA or a mere USB stick, he is normally up-to-date on such matters. His latest interest is remote controlled helicopters.
- Photography. A fairly new hobby for Miguel, he has been a hobby photographer for a couple of years now. Armed with his Nikon D40, a couple of lenses (18-55mm and 55-200mm), and a couple of filters, he is sometimes seen around London taking photographs of just about everything. If you would like to see some of his work, check out his devianArt page.
He was invited by Antonio Marques to join the Digital-Folders Network so he could share his knowledge and passions with all of you.
