This post is part of the Monetizing Your Blog series. You can also find it in our Resources for Bloggers page.
Chitika started in May 2003 and launched their flagship program, the eMiniMalls, in June 2005.
eMiniMalls is a contextual advertising program that either displays product ads based on your content or displays products based on a specific category and keywords you define. For this program to be used in conjunction with Adsense you need to set it up for the latter (meaning, always define a category of products and if possible a few product keywords).
Since Chitika launched the eMiniMalls, it has generated quite a buzz for bloggers and the general acceptance is quite good.
Due to it’s nature, it generally performs better on product related blogs, but there were testimonials of bloggers for whom the eMiniMalls worked very well in non-product blogs, even outperforming AdSense.
Other point of note for eMiniMalls is the high value per click (in general higher than AdSense). Also, it has a much lower payout at just $10 if payable through PayPal.
The high amount of ad formats available as well as the number of advertisers turns Chitika eMiniMalls into an added value feature for your readers and a versatile option for blog monetization to take into consideration.
Why not try it? Go to Chitika’s site and give it a spin.
